Christmas Gift Wrapping Ideas for 2022

Use simple items to make unique DIY gift wrap that’s going to stand out this holiday season. These simple tutorials will show you a few festive ideas for original wrapping that are sure to impress.

What you’ll need to create original gift wrapping:

Plain craft paper
Lino block
Ink pad
Hobby knife

Festive Gift Wrap with a Hand Made Stamp Motif

Step 1:

On a lino block, draw a holiday-themed motif. Then using the carving tools, remove the pencil lines creating a channel in the rubber block. This will create a full-colored stamp where the design will show up in the background color of the wrapping paper.

Alternatively, you can use the craft knife to completely cut away the excess lino to leave only the design. This will create fill color shapes.

Step 2:

Wrap the gift in plain craft paper. Then tie the baker's twine and add a ribbon bow. Use an ink pad to stamp the design in one corner.

Step 1:

Cut a piece of the plain craft paper to size, large enough to wrap the gift.

Step 2:

Stamp the paper in your choice of design. Mix and match more than a few stamps or use the same one in a few different colors. If you’re a righty, stamp the paper starting at the top left corner making your way down and over to the bottom right. If you’re a lefty, start on the opposite corner, this will help you avoid accidentally smudging the paper.

Pro Tip: Always test each stamp on a piece of scrap paper. Wash stamps between each color to prevent color transfer.

Step 3:

Step 1:

Cut a rectangular piece of rubber lino.

Step 2:

Draw a shape for the name tag, it could be a simple line design or a festive holiday shape like a holly leaf.

Step 3:

Use the carving gauge to remove the pencil lines creating a channel in the lino.

Step 4:

Stamp onto the gift wrapping paper, then write the name in with a marker.

This is another cute idea for a gift wrap with a personal touch. It’s also great to use for a couple’s gift since there’s room for more than one name.

What you’ll need:

Plain craft paper
Colorful craft paper
Pretty string or baker’s twine
Craft knife
Cutting mat
Glue

Step 1:

From the colorful paper, cut out several stockings. They can all be the same, or each stocking can be a little different.

Using a craft knife, like a finger knife from Excel, gives you better control when cutting out the small details.

Wrap the gift in plain craft paper. Then wrap the string a few times around the gift. Wrap loosely or neatly and create visual interest.

Glue the stockings to one of the lines of string.

What you need:

Colorful craft paper
